The rich man who comes to ask Jesus what he should do to inherit eternal life is a good man, sincere in his asking. Mark’s gospel is alone in saying that Jesus looked on him and loved him. Out of love, not as judgment, Jesus offers him an open door to life: sell all you own and give it to the poor. Our culture bombards us with the message that we will find life by consuming. El hombre rico que viene a preguntar a Jesús qué debe hacer para heredar la vida eterna es un hombre bueno, sincero en su petición. El evangelio de Marcos es el único que dice que Jesús lo miró y lo amó. Por amor, no como juicio, Jesús le ofrece una puerta abierta a la vida: vende todo lo que tienes y dáselo a los pobres. Nuestra cultura nos bombardea con el mensaje de que encontraremos la vida consumiendo. Nuestras asambleas contrarrestan este mensaje con la invitación a encontrar la vida despojándonos por el bien del otro.
