Life and death stand side by side as we enter into Good Friday. In John’s passion account, Jesus reveals the power and glory of God, even as he is put on trial and sentenced to death. Standing with the disciples at the foot of the cross, we pray for the whole world in the ancient bidding prayer, as Christ’s death offers life to all. We gather in solemn devotion, but always with the promise that the tree around which we assemble is indeed a tree of life. We depart silently, and we anticipate the culmination of the Three Days in the Easter Vigil.

La vida y la muerte se unen al entrar en el Viernes Santo. En el relato de la pasión de Juan, Jesús revela el poder y la gloria de Dios, incluso al ser juzgado y condenado a muerte. Junto a los discípulos al pie de la cruz, oramos por el mundo entero con la antigua oración de la oración, mientras la muerte de Cristo ofrece vida a todos. Nos reunimos con solemne devoción, pero siempre con la promesa de que el árbol alrededor del cual nos congregamos es, en efecto, un árbol de vida. Nos despedimos en silencio, anticipando la culminación de los Tres Días de la Vigilia Pascual.
